The Initiative Online Print e.V. is an association of companies from the Online-Printing-Industry. Amongst them there are different producers, solution- and service providers from the Web-to-Print- and Online-Print-Environment. The IOP sees itself as a branch initiative for fair competition in the fields of Online-Printing-Services. The initiative is aiming to inform politics and society about the needs and interests of the Online-Printing-Industry and is actively working to stop restraints of competition (e.g. the ones based on process patents in the software area). Numerous Software-, Print- and Media companies and their subcontractors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland are represented in the IOP. One of the founding members is the Bundesverband Druck- und Medien e. V., a head organization of the German Print- and Media Industry, in which more than 4.000 companies are organized.
IOP members exist in a healthy competition with one another. They are using the Initiative as a communication platform and forum in order to further develop and support the branch of trade and its offers, solutions, and services.
The association was founded on December 18 in 2007 in Düsseldorf and was formerly called „Interessengemeinschaft zur Förderung des freien Wettbewerbs Web-to-Print e.V.“. The name was has been changed into „Initiative Online Print e.V.“ in 2010 and is based in Essen, Germany.
